Dance Music Download Guide

Downloading Music from KIMBO and Importing into Your Music Player

Thank you for supporting a small business!

You can purchase and download music directly to your iPhone without ever touching iTunes or a computer. Since Apple introduced the Files app, the process is much smoother. If you want your music to appear inside the official Apple Music app (alongside your streaming library), you must use a computer. You cannot import files directly into the native Music app on an iPhone without a desktop.

Operating System Compatibility: Please be aware that due to the variety of mobile/cell phone operating systems, you might encounter occasional issues during the direct download process.

Recommended Download Method: For the most seamless experience, we recommend downloading your music files to your computer first. You can then import these files into your preferred music player.

Option 1: Download music to a Desktop

This guide will walk you through the simple steps of downloading your purchased music and getting it into your favorite players: iTunes/Apple Music and Windows Media Player.

Let's get started!

Step 1: Downloading the Music File

Click on the Download File Button: Open your order confirmation email from Kimbo Dance Music and click the black Download File button.

Click to Download: Click on the download now link on the page that opened in your internet browser. Your web browser or application will usually prompt you to save the file.

Choose a Destination: Select a location on your computer where you want to save the music file. Your "Downloads" folder is a common and convenient place. Take note of where you save it!

Wait for the Download: The download progress will usually be displayed in your browser or application. Once it's finished, you'll have the music file on your computer.

Step 2: Extracting the Music Files

(Skip this step if you purchased a single track. This step applies to full album or multitrack purchases.)

A ZIP file is like a compressed container holding one or more files. You need to "unzip" or "extract" the music files to access them.

For Windows:

Locate the ZIP File: Open File Explorer (the folder icon on your taskbar) and navigate to the location where you saved the ZIP file.

Right-Click: Right-click on the ZIP file.

Choose an Extraction Option: You'll see a few options. Choose one of the following:

"Extract All...": This is the most common option. A window will pop up asking where you want to save the extracted files. You can choose a new folder or keep the default location (usually a folder with the same name as the ZIP file in the same directory). Click "Extract."

"[Your ZIP program name, e.g., 7-Zip, WinRAR] > Extract Here": If you have a third-party ZIP program installed, you might see this option. "Extract Here" will extract the files directly into the same folder as the ZIP file.

"[Your ZIP program name, e.g., 7-Zip, WinRAR] > Extract to "[ZIP file name]"": This will create a new folder with the same name as the ZIP file and extract the contents into it.

Locate the Extracted Music: Once the extraction is complete, a new folder (or the same folder) will contain the individual music files. These files will likely be in formats like MP3, AAC, WAV, etc.

For macOS:

Locate the ZIP File: Open Finder (the smiling face icon in your Dock) and navigate to the location where you saved the ZIP file.

Double-Click: Simply double-click on the ZIP file. macOS has built-in support for ZIP files and will automatically extract the contents into a new folder with the same name as the ZIP file, located in the same directory.

Locate the Extracted Music: Open the newly created folder to find your music files.

Step 3: Importing Music into Your Players

Now that you have the individual music files, let's get them into your preferred music players.

Importing into iTunes or the Apple Music App (macOS Catalina and later):

Open iTunes or the Apple Music App: Launch the application on your computer.

Navigate to Your Library: In iTunes, click on "Library" in the top left. In the Apple Music app, you should be in the "Library" section by default.

Import Files: There are a couple of ways to import:

Drag and Drop: Open the folder containing your extracted music files. Select the files or the entire folder and drag them into the iTunes/Apple Music window.

Using the Menu:

iTunes (Windows & older macOS): Click on "File" in the top menu bar, then select "Add File to Library..." or "Add Folder to Library...". Navigate to the location of your music files or the folder containing them, select them, and click "Open."

Apple Music (macOS Catalina and later): Click on "File" in the top menu bar, then select "Add to Library...". Navigate to the location of your music files or the folder containing them, select them, and click "Open."

Wait for Import: iTunes/Apple Music will import the music files into your library. You'll see them appear in your songs list.

Importing into Windows Media Player:

Open Windows Media Player: Launch the application. You can find it by searching in the Windows search bar.

Navigate to Library: In Windows Media Player, make sure you are in the "Library" view (usually the default).

Add Files to Library:

Drag and Drop: Open the folder containing your extracted music files. Select the files or the entire folder and drag them into the main window of Windows Media Player (the area where your music library is displayed).

Using the Menu:

Click on "Organize" in the top menu bar.

Select "Manage libraries" and then "Music."

In the "Music Library Locations" window, click "Add...".

Navigate to the folder containing your extracted music files, select the folder, and click "OK."

Click "OK" in the "Music Library Locations" window. Windows Media Player will scan the folder and add the music to your library.

Option 2: Download music directly to your iPhone

You can purchase and download music directly to your iPhone without ever touching iTunes or a computer. Since Apple introduced the Files app, the process is much smoother.

Complete your purchase: Once you buy an album or track, you’ll receive a download link on the "Success" page and via email.

Tap the link: Your iPhone will open the link in Safari.

Confirm the download: A pop-up will ask if you want to download the file. Tap Download.

Track progress: Look for the small blue arrow icon in the Safari address bar to see your progress.

Where do the files go? By default, these files live in the Files app (the blue folder icon), specifically in the Downloads folder.

Handling .zip files: If you bought an album, it will likely download as a .zip file. Simply tap the zip file in your Downloads folder, and your iPhone will automatically create a folder containing all your high-quality tracks.

Listening: You can play songs directly from the Files app! For a better "library" experience, consider using third-party apps like VOX or VLC, which can "watch" your Files folders and organize your music for you.

Listening via Spotify (Android & iOS)

Album downloads do not automatically appear in Spotify. You must use the Local Files feature:

On Mobile:

Enable Local Files: In Spotify Settings, toggle Show local audio files to ON.

Permissions: (iOS only) Ensure Spotify has permission to access your files in Settings > Privacy & Security > Media & Apple Music.

Find your music: Open Your Library and tap the Local Files folder. You can now add these tracks to your playlists.

On Desktop: If you have the files on your computer, you can sync them to your mobile app by ensuring both your computer and phone are on the same Wi-Fi network. Enable "Local Files" on the desktop app, add the folder, and then "Download" that playlist on your phone.
